Choosing the Best Signal Conditioning Solution

Analog Devices offers four Series of signal conditioning products (3B, 5B, 6B and 7B Series) that implement the important signal conditioning characteristics in different ways to address diverse applications. The characteristics that all our signal conditioning solutions offer include:

Direct Sensor Inputs - Thermocouples, millivolts, RTDs, strain gages, etc.

Isolation - Eliminates ground loops, protects measurement systems.

Amplification - Raises small signals to standard 0 to +5 V or 0 to +10 V levels.

Transducer Excitation - Provides stable current or voltage source.

Input Protection - Protects against mis-wiring, transients, excess signal.

Filtering - Reduces unwanted noise interference.

Zero Suppression - Shifts zero point to maximize accuracy and resolution.

Standard System Interface - Matches popular PC data acquisition boards.

Each of the four Series provides solutions to these needs, with varying capabilities and performance. The Series you select will determine the features you have today, and the expansion capabilities you have for the future.

Use the following table to help you decide which Series is best for your application. Once you make a selection, refer to the detailed product information to configure the right modules, backplanes, power supplies and other options to complete the solution.
